Meadow Glade is an unincorporated community in north Clark County, just west of Battle Ground, with a Battle Ground mailing address and no city government of its own. It grew up as farmland, and that history still shows: older farmhouses on a few acres, fields and pasture, manufactured homes on rural lots and in parks, and newer houses filling in along the main roads. It is a short drive north from our Vancouver office, and a single road here can hold three very different kinds of roofs.
That mix is why we do not bring one answer to Meadow Glade. An old farmhouse might need its porch roof rebuilt. A manufactured home might need a new coating or a pitched roof over the old low one. A ten-year-old house might just need a few shingles reset after a windy night. We look first and match the fix to the building in front of us.

Farmhouse and manufactured home roofs in Meadow Glade
Older Meadow Glade farmhouses were built in stages. A main two-story block might have a kitchen wing added later, a covered porch wrapped around two sides and a mudroom with a nearly flat roof tacked on the back. Each addition met the main house at a different height and pitch, and the joints between them are where leaks usually start. Porch roofs are a frequent repair: the low slope holds water, the beams at the outer edge rot where gutters overflow, and old corrugated panels crack and turn brittle. Rebuilding a porch roof often means new framing ends before any roofing goes back on.
Manufactured homes are the other big share of our calls here. Many have a low, rounded metal roof or a shallow composite roof with little overhang. Older metal tops can be cleaned, resealed at seams and recoated to slow leaks. When a roof is past that point, a pitched roof-over with light trusses and shingles is an option that also adds overhangs to shed rain away from the walls and windows.
Open ground and Meadow Glade weather
Meadow Glade has fewer tall trees than the wooded hills to the east, and in many spots the land is open and fairly flat. That changes how weather hits a roof. Wind crosses the fields with little to slow it, so shingle edges, ridge caps and porch panels catch more of it. Rain arrives sideways in winter storms and finds gaps at wall joints and porch tie-ins. On the plus side, roofs here dry out faster than those under fir cover, and moss is usually lighter. When ice storms come through, the risk shifts to the few large trees near houses and to ice sitting on low porch and manufactured home roofs.
How we work on Meadow Glade roofs
We walk around the whole building before going up, because porch, wing and mudroom roofs each need their own look. On manufactured homes we check the roof from the edges and walk only where the structure can take it. Recoating an older manufactured home metal roof typically runs $1,980 to $4,370, while a pitched roof-over costs much more. These are typical ranges; the real number follows our visit. For larger jobs, we check with Clark County about permit needs before we start.

Can you put a pitched roof over my Meadow Glade manufactured home?
Often, yes. A roof-over adds light trusses and a sloped shingle or metal roof above the original low roof, with overhangs that move rain off the walls. We check the home's structure first, confirm permit steps with Clark County and any park rules if the home sits in a community, and price it against recoating.
Why does the porch roof on my Meadow Glade farmhouse keep leaking?
Most farmhouse porch roofs are low-pitched, so water moves slowly and sits at the joint with the house wall. If the flashing there is old or the outer beam has rotted where gutters spilled, patches will not hold long. We open the area, repair the framing if needed, and use a roof material suited to the actual slope.
Does moss grow as much on Meadow Glade roofs as in wooded areas?
Usually less, since many Meadow Glade homes sit in the open and dry faster after rain. North slopes near large trees still grow it. Wind and sideways rain cause more of our calls here than moss does. A light cleaning followed by zinc strips is often enough to keep the shaded sections clear.
